After reading this article in the Liverpool City Champion, it turns out that I’m not the only one who thinks that we need to get rid of some of the red tape around here, or maybe we just need a local Council that is easier to deal with?
In the case of this story in Edmondson Park, the Council has re-zoned the land to allow it to be redeveloped however they are currently having problems with the Council with regards to connecting the sewerage system (which is obviously a crucial component of development).
The Council are however saying that it is a matter for Sydney Water to deal with and not the Council, but Sydney Water have said that they have no plans to make a sewerage connection until 2014!
Residents may even be paying for the new connection themselves, but let’s hope that it doesn’t come to that! Surely somebody in the Council has some power to do something that will allow this development to reach completion!
