Things to Consider When Buying a Unit

So you think you’ve found your perfect unit. It’s in the right location, has 2 bedrooms and a carport and it’s for the right price… but you have you considered the position a unit has in a building?

If you are thinking about buying an apartment, especially if you haven’t seen it before or are buying off the plan, then the position it has in a building will make a huge difference to your quality of living as well as the price you might get for it later on.

One of the first things to consider is your view. Depending on your position in a unit, you could be getting a view of a carpark or of something much nicer. So when you buy your apartment unseen, check which way your unit will be facing.

If you are thinking of buying a low- medium density unit there are often 2 preferences, either the top floor, or the bottom. Sometimes the bottom levels end up with more space if they have large courtyards. But normally the bottom level doesn’t have a view so you might have to compromise depending on which you would prefer.

When you are in a larger builder though, the most sought after units are the ones in the corners. These generally offer the most privacy and feel like they are further away from neighbours.

It will all depend on the layout of the building though, and you may want to check where the recreational areas such as pools and gyms are too, in case these increase traffic past your unit.

These are just some things to consider when buying units, if you would like any help in searching for your dream unit or would like some advice please feel free to get in touch with me.
