Casula Community Groups Encouraged to Apply for Environmental Grants

Casula’s community groups have been invited to apply for a Community Action Grant as part of the federal government’s Caring for Our Country initiative.

The grants are intended for groups who want to help take action to conserve and protect their local natural environment and carry out projects such as improving biodiversity or creating sustainable farm practices.

If you are part of an environmental, indigenous, land-care, coast-care or sustainable agriculture community group then your project may be able to benefit from the grants which offer between $5000 and $20,000 for successful applications.

The Care For Our Country grants aim to help encourage community groups to protect and conserve Australia’s natural resources and environment and it would be great if some of our own local projects in Casula or surrounds could benefit from the program.

So come on Casula residents, if you’re part of a community group that you think deserves funding then head over to www.nrm.gov.au for further details or call the Caring For Our Country hotline on 1800 552 008. Applications for the grants close on March 27, 2012.
