The Salvation Army is currently calling on Liverpool residents to volunteer and get involved with this year’s Red Shield Appeal.

The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army’s biggest national fundraising drive and the more people that volunteer – the more money that can be raised.

It is hoped that through this year’s appeal, the Liverpool community will be able to help raise at least $31,000 in funds which will help contribute towards the $81.5 million figure that can hopefully be raised nationally.

All funds that are raised will help go towards the Salvation Army’s vast network of social and community services.

To be able to raise such a large amount of money, the local Salvation Army is calling on generous individuals to go doorknocking in their neighbourhoods to help collect donations.

Those who volunteer for the Red Shield Appeal are only asked to take two or three hours out of their day to help go doorknocking, and by doing so they will be playing a vital role in supporting the Salvation Army and the many good deeds that they do. All those who participate will receive a certificate of participation, a Big Mac voucher and the knowledge that they have helped their local community.

For those in Liverpool who are interested in volunteering for this year’s Red Shield Appeal Doorknock, you can register at salvos.org.au or you can get in touch with your local Salvos.
