With the cold and rainy weather we’ve been recently, there’s not much that anyone has felt like doing except staying indoors and trying to keep warm.

But even when the weather is gloomy, things still need to get done and for those selling their homes, there are still open homes to be held.

A rainy day doesn’t need to ruin an open home, and there are a few things that sellers can do to help make their home a comforting and dry haven from the dreary weather.

The first thing to think about is what you can do to cater for your visitors’ muddy feet and wet clothes and umbrellas. It’s a good idea to have mats out the front where people can wipe their feet, and if you want people to take their shoes off then it’s a good idea to put a shoe rack near the entrance where shoes can be left.

If available, it’s also a good idea to have a box or a rack that can be used for people to put their umbrellas away or hang up their winter coats.

Turn heaters on in the lead up to an open home to help make sure that it’s warm by the time that people start coming over. Before people are due to turn up though, you may like to hide heaters away if they’re unattractive or noisy.

If it’s dark in any rooms in your home, turn lights on to make your home bright and welcoming rather than dark and gloomy.
