Liverpool’s Garden Competition is on again this year, so it’s time to start getting your garden looking its very best.

Each and every year the Liverpool Garden Competition helps encourage local residents to show pride in their properties and to engage in some friendly competition in the hopes of winning some great prizes.

Some say that maintaining a great garden is one of the joys of life, and nothing creates as much pride in a street as beautiful gardens.

There are a number of categories that Liverpool residents can enter their gardens into for this year’s awards.

Categories are as follows:

·         Best Front Yard (total land size less than 1000m2)

·         Best Back Yard (total land size less than 1000m2)

·         Acreage (total land size 1000m2 & over) (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Best Unit/Townhouse or Villa Garden (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Best School Garden

·         Best Sustainable/Water Wise Garden (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Best Edible Garden (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Best Senior Citizens Garden (Over 60 yrs) (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Most Colourful Display (Front Yard / Back Yard / Both)

·         Best Community Garden

Entry into the Liverpool Garden Competition is open to everyone residing in the Liverpool Government Area. Gardens can not be maintained by a professional gardener however, and 1st place winners from last year can not re-enter in the same category they were awarded in.

Competition entries will close at 4pm on Tuesday 25 September 2012.

We’re looking forward to seeing the wonderful gardens that come out of this year’s Liverpool Garden Competition and if you would like to enter you can head to the Liverpool City Council website for further details.

Happy Gardening!
