Tomorrow is the nationally celebrated ‘Walk Safely to School Day’ that sees Primary School aged children across the country walk or commute safely to school. Naturally we don’t encourage young children to walk alone, but rather see Walk Safely to School Day as an opportunity to educate Liverpool children about road safety, and the health benefits of walking and staying active.
If you don’t live within an easy walk of your school, the day can also be a great time to leave the car in the garage and help to reduce traffic congestion by teaching your child to use public transport safely. If you do need to drive, try parking 10 minutes from school and walking the rest of the way. This will give your child the opportunity to practice walking with you, holding your hand at all crossings, and waiting for traffic lights and school crossing whistles before crossing roads.
According to their website, the aims of Walk Safely to School Day are:
Our Professionals Paradise Realty team would like to encourage all Liverpool parents to make the most of the day, and encourage others to join in the walk. Let the walk be enjoyable as well as educational. If you know several parents who usually drive, why not meet up at the same point and allow the children to walk to school together?
