With just 10 days to go until World Heart Day, we thought we’d share with you some facts and figures that we found quite interesting, in the hope that it might help our Liverpool community put in place preventative measures for Cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Unfortunately Cardiovascular disease is far more common than many people realise. In fact, it is the number one cause of death, causing 17.3 million deaths a year. While people often associate Cardiovascular disease with affluent middle-aged men, this is not always the case. Cardiovascular disease can affect anybody, including women and children. The good news is heart disease can often be prevented.
Some measures we can take to improve our health and reduce the risk of Cardiovascular disease are:
Everyone, including policy makers, health care professionals, parents and employers, have the responsibility to play an encouraging and enabling role in heart-healthy living in our Liverpool community. September 29 is World Heart Day. It’s time to take action for you, your family and our Liverpool community to live better, longer and heart healthy lives.
