Badgerys Creek AirportWell it’s official – there will be a second airport for Sydney and it’s going to be built at nearby Badgerys Creek. So what does this mean for Liverpool and the rest of Western Sydney?

There seems to be a lot of different opinions around town as to whether or not having an airport at Badgerys Creek will be good news for Western Sydney, but many are excited for the benefits that the new airport will bring to our local economy.

According to the Federal Government, the new airport will bring with it between $11.6 billion and $15.2 billion in additional economic activity by 2050. During the construction phase of the airport it will also help create 1,529 jobs, and a further 16,252 – 20,013 jobs will be created once the airport is fully operational.

The above figures are based on the building and operation of the airport alone however, and many more jobs will be needed to help build the infrastructure that will be needed to help support the Badgerys Creek airport.

Transport and road infrastructure will be the first projects on the agenda and we will likely hear about these in the coming days and weeks.

The new Sydney airport won’t be ready for it’s first flight until sometime in the mid-2020’s, and until then Liverpool is likely to see a lot of new investment in the area and a lot of new projects taking place.

Liverpool and the rest of Western Sydney is likely to see a lot of changes and growth over the coming years, so it will be exciting to see what’s in store for our future.
