Red CrossThe Red Cross will be turning 100 next week and to help celebrate, Bunnings Hoxton Park and Crossroads will be throwing a fundraising barbeque on Saturday.

The hardwore stores will be joining hundreds of others around the country to help support the charitable organisation and their humanitarian efforts.

The Australian branch of the British Red Cross Society began at Government House in Melbourne on August 13, 1914, nine days after the outbreak of World War I.

Since that day, the Red Cross has played a huge role in humanitarian efforts in Australia, and has helped the country through its extensive work in social welfare, natural disaster relief, its blood service and first aid programs.

Today more than one million Red Cross members, volunteers, donors, staff and supporters are out there making a positive difference to the lives of other Australians.

Hopefully the Red Cross will be able to continue to help people for hundreds of years more.

If you want to help support Bunnings’ Red Cross Centenary Fundraiser Barbecues you can head to one tomorrow from 9am to 4pm, or you can find out more about the Red Cross and ways that you can help by visiting www.redcross.org.au.
