It’s Election Day this Saturday the 21st of August, and I’m sure there will be many Australian voters out there who will be marking the occasion in some way.
For some of us Election Day might mean nothing more than walking to our local school or hall and marking numbers on a piece of paper, but for others it means a lot more.
I’m not just talking politics either. I have heard of people in the Casula community who hold parties with their friends on Election Day, or have a BBQ with the election count on the loud speaker. I think it’s a great excuse to get friends and family together and have some friendly banter over whose party you think will win the big job.
Even without realising it I’m sure there will be a lot of people tuning into their television sets on Saturday night waiting to hear the final verdict. Or if you don’t have time for TV, maybe you’ll be checking your Facebook every so often waiting to see who posts the election winner first.
I’m interested to hear stories of what other Australian’s get up to on Election Day, will you marking the occasion in a special way?
