The Liverpool rental market has been quite competitive lately and a lot of people are probably finding that they need to apply for multiple rental properties before they can secure a property.
So this week I thought I would offer some tips to help you provide a point of difference and achieve a successful rental application:
- One of the most important things to have when applying for a rental is good references and referees. Ask your previous property manager if they can vouch for your rental history.
- Offering to pay rent well in advance may be an option for some and may make you stand out if there are multiple applications for a property.
- Most owners prefer tenants to sign up for a long-term lease, but check with the property manager as they may only be looking for somebody for 3 or 6 months.
- You can help increase your rental options by looking for an unfurnished property over a furnished one. If you don’t have any furniture of your own then consider asking family or friends if you can borrow any spare furniture or consider purchasing your own.
- Pets can also decrease your rental options. If you’re only planning to rent for a short period then ask family or friends if they can look after your pet until you can find a more suitable option.
- At the end of the day it’s the owner of a property who decides on the successful applicant but we always do our best to make sure that everybody has the best possible chance of getting into the home they would like.
