If you’re going to keep the kids entertained over the Easter school holidays it pays to plan out the days that you can spend with your family, and the days that you need to find external entertainment for them. Here's an update on the information I posted last week, to help you get your Easter holidays planned!
There are a number of activities for kids and families throughout the Easter school holidays, so for Casula residents, I thought I’d break it down for you so you can plan your Easter school holidays…
The Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre has a number of workshops and exhibitions that may tickle your kids’ fancy and maybe bring out some creativity in them!
Digital Media– Over two days, the Digital Media Workshop will teach kids to make their own short video which will be displayed at the Kids' Festival. The cost is $85 and goes from 11am to 4pm on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th of April for kids aged 7 to 12.
Maori Time Art-Making Workshop – running on Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of April (this week) from 10am to 4pm, and costing only $10 a day for kids aged 5 to 12, this is a great way to learn about the Maori culture and get creative at the same time. Lunch breaks will be taken and kids can bring a packed lunch or find something yummy at the café.
Weave Workshop – is a free 90 minute workshop for 5 to 10 year olds to be held on Thursday 14thof April from 11am to 12.30pm. Great for entertaining the kids while you pop out for that meeting or appointment!
No. 1 Fan Exhibition– is open until the 19th of June, however from 11am to 12pm on Friday 15th of April, 6 to 10 year olds are able to take a free tour of the exhibition.
Street Art Day – is forkids aged 8 to 14 and is a very hands on activity. This workshop runs from 11am to 4pm on Monday 18th of April and costs $40. This is a great day for entertaining the older kids during the Easter school holidays!
Ceramic Tile Making and Decorating – on Tuesday 19th of April, kids aged 8 to 13 can get their hands dirty at the Clayhouse for just $15 and create their own ceramic masterpiece. The workshop funs from 10am to 12pm.
Monkey Baa – is afreestage performance workshop for older kids and can be a great way to make new friends and get involved in the performing arts here in Casula. 8 to 12 year olds can attend classes on Wednesday 20th, 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm. 13 to 16 year olds can attend a class from 10am – 2:30pm on Thursday 21st of April with a 30 minute break for lunch (either bring your own or purchase from the café).

Casula Library also has a number of activities on for school kids during the 2011 Easter Holidays…
Bollywood Dance – is a workshop for 5 to 12 year olds with or without dance experience. It’s a fun way to spend an hour, which you can follow with some time browsing through the library books available to your kids. The workshop is scheduled for 1pm – 2pm on Thursday 14th of April at the Casula Library. Contact the library for more details and to make bookings.
Questacon Bubbles and Liquid Nitrogen Show – brings out the scientist in all kids. Discovering how to make giant bubbles, create smoky illusions and freeze things instantly is always fun! To be held on Tuesday 19th of April at the Casula Library from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Again, contact Library for more details.
Bunningsis also another great place to entertain your kids with their range of school holiday activities and workshops. Our local Bunnings is located on the corner of Campbelltown Road and Camden Valley Way. Call them on (02) 9600 5400 for workshop times and bookings.
