Today marks the last day of Harmony Week around the country and what has also been an opportunity for Liverpool residents to come together and celebrate our community’s diversity.
Liverpool is proud to be one of the most multicultural communities in Australia – more than 157 different birthplaces are represented in Liverpool and around 46 percent of the local population speak a language other than English at home.
Living in a place with so much cultural diversity allows us to learn more about different ways of life around the world, and it also helps us appreciate that even though we are all unique, there are things that we all share in common too.
For Liverpool residents who want to embrace Harmony Week and learn more about the different cultures that help make up our community, the Liverpool City Council has put together a multicultural recipe and facts book that allows people to learn more about other countries through something that we definitely all have in common – the love of food!
You can find the book by heading to the Liverpool City Council website. If you’re interested in learning more about the different cultures and backgrounds in our community though, then step out your front door, visit local restaurants, talk to your neighbours and take part in new hobbies and learn more about the people that help make Liverpool such a unique and vibrant place to live in.
