Today is “Fatality Free Friday” and Liverpool residents are being encouraged to take a pledge to help make sure that there are ZERO road fatalities in Australia today – and hopefully much less in the future too.
The Fatality Free Friday Pledge asks that Liverpool’s motorists make the following pledge to:
- Be mindful of safe driving;
- Be patient with other road users, including cyclists and pedestrians;
- Stay alert;
- Don’t speed; and
- Slow down if it’s wet.
The above pledge serves as a promise from drivers that they will drive safely, and it is hoped that overall the day will help raise the awareness and importance of road safety.
An unfortunate statistic shows that 5.3 people die on our nation’s roads every day and in the 12 months ending in March 2012 there were 1,301 road fatalities Australia-wide.
Driving safely and following road rules can mean the difference between life and death and so it is extremely important for motorists to be mindful when they drive, for the safety of themselves and others on the roads.
If you would like to take the Fatality Free Friday pledge and promise to make sure that there are zero road fatalities in Liverpool today, then head over to www.fatalityfreefriday.com.
