Casula may soon be home to a new $40 million Costco supermarket.
The American retail giant has lodged a development application with the Liverpool City Council to construct a warehouse-style store at the Crossroads Homemaker Centre on Beech Road.
For those who haven’t heard of Costco, it’s a massive American member-only wholesale chain that sells bulk goods such as food, electronics, appliances, clothing and more.
A few Liverpool residents may have already visited the Costco store located in Auburn, which is currently the only Costco store in Sydney.
The Casula Costco would be Sydney’s second store and the fourth for all of Australia and it is hoped that if it goes ahead that it will help inject millions of dollars into the local economy and help create hundreds of jobs.
The development is currently being assessed by the Sydney West Joint Regional Planning Panel and if it goes ahead it will also include a service station, tyre centre, photo processing desk, optometrist, hearing facility and food court.
A public exhibition of the development should be available soon.
