Liverpool residents can get their old fridges taken away for free thanks to a state government energy saving program.

The program is called the Fridge Buyback Scheme and it is targeting old energy-guzzling upright freezers and big old fridges that Liverpool residents may have sitting around in their homes and garages.

Old appliances like fridges can cost residents up to $300 a year to keep operating, which is a massive and often unnecessary expense if the fridge isn’t in regular use.

Instead of spending money on expensive power bills, Liverpool residents can take part in the Fridge Buyback scheme and receive a $35 rebate paid for the collection of their fridge or freezer if it located within six steps or less. No rebate is paid for a home where collection involves between 7-20 steps, however collection is still free.

If you’re interested in taking part in the Fridge Buyback Scheme, your second fridge or upright freezer must be in regular use, built before 1996 and at least 200 litres in size.

The Fridge Buyback Scheme is an easy way for Liverpool residents to save some money and to help get rid of a product that probably just taking up space in the home.

If you would like to find out any further information about the program then you can visit www.fridgebuyback.com.au or call 1800 708 401 to make a booking.
