Today is one of Australia’s most important commemorative occasions. A day where Australians and New Zealanders pay homage to our ANZACs and all of the servicemen and women who have fought bravely for our country and lived through situations beyond our imaginations.
Anzac Day is an important national occasion, and a day in which we should spend the time to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made since that fateful day in the First World War to allow all Australians to remain in a free and democratic country.
If you want to show your respects to the ANZACs today, there will be dawn services and commemorative marches and services taking place all throughout Liverpool. There is often also a chance to play a game of traditional two-up on Anzac Day, to help us remember the spirit of the Diggers.
If you can’t make it to an Anzac Day service, you may wish to pay your respects by taking a moment’s silence on Anzac Day and reflecting on the sacrifices that many have made both at home and abroad to help uphold Australia’s values and way of life.
Lest we Forget…
They shall grow not old… as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them
