The Liverpool City Library is asking children in the local community to think about the future of our city, and to put their thoughts into words and pictures for the Library’s Book Week Writing Competition.
The theme for Book Week this year is ‘Connect to Reading’, and writing is one of the best ways to do this.
Children (from kindergarten age up to grade 12) who wish to enter into the Book Week Writing Competition are being asked to imagine what Liverpool will look like in 25 years’ time and to express their hopes for the city.
Prizes will be awarded to the student with the best entry with two runners up in each category. The categories are as follows:
- Grades K-2, where children will be asked to draw a picture of ‘What you hope Liverpool will be like in 25 years’ time?’
- Grades 3-6, where children will be asked to tell the library in 250 words or less ‘What you hope Liverpool will be like in 25 years’ time?’
- Grades 7-12, where children will be asked to tell the library in 500 words or less ‘What you hope Liverpool will be like in 25 years’ time?’
For those who have children that might be interested in entering the Book Week Competition, you can find all further details at www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/whats-on/events/events/Library/liverpool-city-librarys-book-week-writing-competition-2014.
Competition entries close July 18, 2014 and prizes will be awarded at the Book Week Parade Launch on August 16.
